Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. I wasn't feeling well and was craving something soupy, so I decided to finally try this place after having it on my want-to-go list for years. I ordered the House Special Combination, which came with sliced steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, and beef meatballs. The broth was rich and fragrant, and the fresh noodles had a great chewy texture that I really enjoyed. The only downside was that the surrounding area left a bit sketchy. On the plus side, the restaurant has its own parking lot, which made parking easy and convenient!

I have up my 3 stars to 5 stars because they are adding more noodles to the pho again. Maybe that stingy chef left? Idk Lol To me Pho Ao Sen is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland maybe even the bay area. Everything here is delicious. I have tried almost everything here except the coconut noodles cause I don't like sweet food. The pho broth is so good I only add jalapeño and herbs, no other condiments except on the side to dip the meats. Not even lime cause I notice lime takes away the flavor of the broth. Bun bo hue is my second go to. They have extra lemongrass sauce at the table if the broth is not spicy enough. Not like other restaurants that has the sate that totally change the taste of the soup.

Really enjoyed this spot. The pork rolls were fresh and had nice chunky texture, and the vermicelli bowl with pork chop and shrimp was super satisfying — the pork chop was juicy and nicely grilled. The pho was also solid, flavorful broth without being too heavy. Overall just really comforting, tasty authentic vietnamese food and generous portions. Cant wait to come back to try fish dishes next time

The food was so good that I completely forgot to take photos 😅 Everything we ordered was delicious — genuinely not a single miss. The grilled pork spring rolls were especially impressive and full of flavor. I also really loved the combo rice set — you get a little bit of almost everything, and the whole plate felt super well balanced and satisfying. Definitely a spot I’d come back to again.

The food is SO good here! I've had the #2 and the #36, and both were amazing (and all the appetizers and side dishes are good that I've tried). I'm going to keep trying different dishes each visit, and I doubt I'll be disappointed. The atmosphere is very welcoming and nice, with beautiful lighting and plants lining the walls. The staff is pleasant and the food always comes out relatively quickly. I've been here multiple times and I can see myself coming back for more.
